Brian Saunders

Brian Saunders first joined Vectis Radio in 2014, bringing with him a lifelong passion for the music of the 1960s and a style of broadcasting that was warm, knowledgeable and full of personality. Although he wasn't on air every week, he became a much-loved part of the station, recording more than 60 programmes before his sad passing.

Brian had the spirit of the great pirate radio DJs - all the enthusiasm, energy and love of the music, just without the parrot and the wooden leg. His knowledge of the 60s and indeed the 70's was remarkable, but it was his genuine warmth and infectious passion that made every programme such a pleasure to hear.

Brian was taken from us far too soon, but his legacy lives on through the wonderful collection of programmes he left behind. We are honoured to share them once again on Vectis Radio every Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm.

We hope you'll tune in, enjoy the music, and remember a broadcaster who loved every minute behind the microphone. We think Brian would be delighted to know that, through these recordings, he's still bringing great music, great memories and plenty of smiles to listeners across the Isle of Wight.

  Purpose and Mission
  The JCAC is a registered charity and structured voluntary service organisation dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities build resilience for everyday life disruptions and emergencies.
  Its mission is to strengthen public preparedness and provide practical support during crises without replacing emergency services.
  The organisation emphasizes calm, confidence, and practical skills in civil defence through initiatives like Project Sophia and Britain Ready
  The concept behind the Joint Civil Aid Corps is to train volunteers as broadly skilled “generalists” who can assist during emergencies in a range of practical roles.  That might include helping manage traffic at an incident, assisting with coordination tasks, or providing logistical support that frees up trained professionals to focus on specialist work. To make that possible, training has been a central focus from the outset. Volunteers receive cross-training across multiple disciplines so that responders can deploy them flexibly during an incident. They are currently looking for volunteers on the Isle of Wight
